DIY Sudden loss of control!! Mini cooper s 52 plate

i have had my lovely mini cooper s for about nine months now and everything about her was perfect. ive never had any real problems with her. i was on my usual drive home from work yesterday, quite happy as i had that friday feeling when suddenly my car just seamed to loose control. i remember having my hands straight on the wheel when the car first swerved so its not like i had a jolt. the car was all over the place, i tried to stop the car from swerving but it was just out of control. i was behind a line of traffic, therefore not traveling at a ridiculous speed, i was also on a straight road. i eventual ended up in a tree on the other side of the road and my lovely cooper s is no more! im so gutted but even more upset that i just cant understand what happened!!! all i can say is it just went form normal steady driving to uncontrollable chaos!!! the only thing that makes any sense is that it was some kind of fault. the only thing is, when the guy drove it off the breakdown wagon, he drove it about 2mtrs, it seamed ok. i just dont understand!!! please help!!!!

Sorry to hear about your smash, hope you're OK, even if the car isn't!

Can't recall of anything like that being posted before. If power steering fails it gets heavy, not all squirmy and self driving.

Perhaps you hit some serious oil and/or diesel and it just lost all traction?

If it's a fault, it should show up when they check it out, I assume damage not too great if you were not going at any kind of speed? They're pretty solid cars, despite the size.

sorry to hear of your loss, just to recite from Paul, as long as you are ok. Do you still have the last key that was in the ignition as it has its on memory. This would be useful to mini.
