Parcel Shelf Catching on Boot Lid

I have had my Cooper S for about 4 months now and when i bought it, the shelf was fine. However, something has happened and now the boot lid won't close because of the parcel shelf. The circular piece of trim on the boot lid behine the wiper catches on the top of the ridge on the parcel shelf (Hope that makes sense).

To close the boot lid i have to lower it so it rests on the parcel shelf, then put my hand through the gap and lift up the parcel shelf to allow the boot lid to drop.

I have tried bending the parcel shelf up to give the boot lid more room but that hasn't worked. It's driving me mad.

Try a search, there is a good thread on this somewhere, sounds as if you are bending it in the wrong direction.

i had the same thing yes your right its a bad head
puting your hand in and lifting it up then geting your hand out befor you slam tee boot !!!haha
check the strings>??
mine needed tieing up but still not right
so tuk the shelf out and it was bent so just put your foot on it in the middle and pull the sides up this sounds mad but worked for me.
if you try this put some thing under it so you dont mark the shelf

Sounds like your parcel shelf isn't on properly because the shelf shouldn't hit the boot lid.

On the shelf, there should be two little plastic bits that slide into a groove near the head rests and kinda lock in. I think alot of people just rest their parcel shelves on top of that, or sometimes have one locked in, but the other side resting on top... and that's when it hits the boot lid.
