United-Kingdom Washer bottle (reservoir) empties completely

What do you do when one day out of warranty and your washer bottle will not fill up? When I tried to fill it up,it emptied on my foot. My local BMW garage would not fix it, even though they checked the key and it was just one day out of warranty. They would not even contact BMW, they would only do this if it involved parts over £100. Thanks to a Haynes manual in a local DIY store I found the solution:
The pipe at the bottom of the reservoir had become detached, to access it remove the front right wheel, unscrew 2 screws at the rear of the wheel arch and 1 screw in front of the jack up point. Move the rear of the wheel arch cover to access the washer bottle and refit the pipe which has become detached. Put everything back in reverse order. Hopefully £ss saved.

Things can be simple if you take a look your self.

Well Done.

I had the same problem with my 2006 Mine One. Was a little frustrating to get at, but definately cheaper to have a go yourself. Hose came off again a few days later, but now thanks to a 'cable-tie' I've no more issues with it. Pheww!

personally I think it's disgusting that they would not fix it as it was just one day out of warranty.

they could have used some discretion and kept the customer happy.

I'd have asked BMW/MINI customer service if they could help, then if they said no, just get on and do it.

Thanks for posting a bit of DIY advice too.
