Angry Leaking Boot Lid

My boot is always full of waterm, the problem you then thiough is it all settles down where the battery is stored... I recently removed the battery and drained a huge amount of water from there... I can see where the water is coming in but can't see how it is getting in..... So frustrating!!

Two usual sources of leak on 1st Gen MINIs causing water in the boot

1 - High level brake light seal

2 - Boot handle / opening seal

Do a search and you will find lots of info on how to solve it

hi level roof line brake light seal is the most common reason. Its actually quite unlikely to be the seal of the boot itself chap.

This is the most unprofessional bit of site management I have seen since I was banned from a certain other site...at least they had the excuse that they were enthusiasts who had strong views and not professionals paid to keep thier cool!

During heavy rain today, i noticed a couple of drips from inside the tailgate. After a quick look it turns out to be a leaking 3rd brakelight gasket seal, i removed the original seal and made/fitted a better type of seal which worked perfectly.

Anyone experienced water in the tailgate?

After a heavy shower of rain I opened the boot and I heard what sounded like a water moving around inside the boot lid. Whilst the boot was fully open a lot of water flowed out of the tailgate. Most of it ended up in the channel around the boot opening, so the boot itself didn't get wet.

I've never experienced this or any water in the actual boot before. Passebnger footwell is anopther story
