Wire/tube on battery broken????

Hi Guys

Car wont start, think it needs a new battery BUT there is a wire/tube that seems to come out from the battery to the engine that seems to have broken so its not not connected from battery to engine?

What is the wire/tube thing? I could try glueing them back together...could this be why car wont start? Is this wire important? Help!

Have looked on the forum cant find anything to do with this and looked in the owners manual - and nothing?

Sounds like the vent pipe for the battery. It just vents off excessive fumes so they don't accumulate in the battery box.

It shouldn't affect your battery. I reckon your right in saying that a new battery may be required.

Have you tried charging it up to see if it still holds a charge. It may be just down to dark nights, cold weather and lack of use during Christmas/New Year.

I keep my MCS on charge all the time in the winter, I have a motor bike charger Optimax it keeps the battery in tiptop condition... Have a look at what i does ..... my battery on my estate lasted for 8 years hooked up to the charger in winter. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OPTIMAX-MOTORB...item5d2687699f
