2006 mini cooper interior light problem

Hi all

First post and am hoping I can find someone to help before I have to take the car into a garage or auto sparky. The mrs has a 2006 mini cooper - all works well apart from the water leak around the thermo housing, a whine from the engine bay, both doors rattling but that aside the thing that's bugging me is the main central interior light. it's not worked since she picked it up second hand, the footwell lights come on and the set/reset instructions in the manual have been followed to the letter and still nothing works. Bulb has just been changed and the fuse pulled and inspected but nada

Anyone any other ideas? this is the main central interior light besides the two reading lights in the centre of the roof not the two at the front of the car near the RVM
