Noise when switching on sidelights - MINI Cooper Forum

Hi

My MCS (2004) has developed this quite loud noise (kind of like a whirring noise) when the sidelights are switched on, it can be with or without the ignition switched on.

Can anybody help me with this?

Tell me you have Xenon lights? If so, I suspect it will be the little motors powering up the lights: if you ever watch from the outside it is like Herbie waking up & opening its eyes.

Even without Xenons, there's still a noise as the lights adjust themselves... I think?

Have you never noticed it before? How long does the noise last?
