Yellow Engine warning light

Hi,
last year my 54 plate MCS engine emissions light came on for a week or so, then went out. It continued to come on/go off for a couple of months with no other problems with power, consumption etc etc. I mentioned it to the garage when it went in for its service in November. They cleaned up the connection to the sensor and it was fine for a while, but has come back again. Does anyone know exactly where it is, or can provide a picture please? I,d like to take a look at it myself, maybe even change the sensor if its easy enough to do.
Cheers,
Texy

The oxygen/lambda sensors are screwed into the exhaust, one before the Cat and one after. Check the wiring connections or one or both may need replacement or the Cat could be at fault among other things. Any garage which does MOT's will be able to check your emmisions, etc for you.

Thanks for that. The car had MOT when it was serviced, and as the car is performing as normal, I,m not too concerned that it'll be anything major. In fact I,ve just got the best consumption I,ve ever had on this or my previous MCS - 39.2mpg over a full tank (according to the trip 'puter). I was driving like a granny for the week however!
I would still like a better idea of where they are though - are they under the car, ie I,ll need to jack it up, or on top, so under the bonnet?

Follow the exhaust manifold from the engine until you see the Cat, they are Lambda Probe No. 8 as shown on this diagram:

Ensure no oil or dirt gets on the tips of the sensors if you unscrew them but you won't need to if you just check the wiring connection is clean and tight.
