Ticking sound untill clutch is depressed first time

Ticking sound untill clutch is depressed first time

06 MCSC

When you start the car there is a definite ticking, clacking noise from the engine bay. That is untill the clutch is depressed then it completely goes away.

Next time you stop and start the car ( say after 30 mins ), the ticking/clacking is back, again only till the clutch is depressed.

Any ideas, other than cheer up the clutch?

Probably the clutch release bearing rattling. WHen you depress the clutch the bearing is then pushing against the pressure plate of the clutch (so it cant rattle). When you release the clutch it's all nicely in line (so tends not to rattle).

Not really a problem - even if it starts the rattle everytime you're sat in neutral.

Yep, clutch release bearing. Not massively expensive to fix
