R53 Gearbox Problems Hello everyone, been a member for a while now but only new to the posting. so be easy I'm having problems with my gearbox. When taking it out of first or second the gear lever wont centralise, the same applies to 5th and 6th. In all, the gear lever has become harder to move and i have to carefully select gears before releasing the clutch. Has anyone had similar problems or possibly know how i may go about fixing it? its an 02 Mcs. Cheers |

| Hi, This fault sounds like its the gear selector, i have changed a couple, best thing todo if you can disconnect the selector cables on top of the gear box and see if your gears are free, if the gear stick is free and easy to move the cables are ok it will be this, dont worry if the gear selector is at fault you can buy it seperate so its not a full gear box replacement. |

| My R56 has developed the same problem today. I was told that there is a mod for the 1st Gen. models involving a part being applied to the gear linkage, however they had not heard of a problem on the R56...they are going to take a look later this week. |
