Need advise

anyone face any issue when shifting in D, the mini strongly jerks forward but on shifting to R it doesn't jerk. I brought my mini to the bmw dealer they told me to change cvt gearbox.

What is the effect if the gearbox oil isn't change that regularly? Coz i just bought a 2nd hand mini that has done 72k(7 yr old car)

I don't really trust them but then again i am no expert. I would love to hear from you guys. I am really worry about changing the whole cvt gearbox cause it cost about $10k+, which is freaking me out.

Thxs again appreciate any advised.

Hi unfortunatelly the Auto Gearbox was never a praise for the MINI. You should not really need to change the oil, as it is a lifetime sealed unit. You have two options:
1. Change the Gearbox Oil
2. Take it to a a gearbox specialist, they will rebuild it, with new cogs etc.

You might be lucky though with an oil change ;0

Angry CVT oil change

FWIW, I have a 03 CVT with 101,000 on it and I am getting set to have the oil changed for the third time now. Some time after these were sold, MINI changed the (on line) service requirement for the CVT. The oil needs to be replaced every 30 to 40 K miles. Last time I tried to stretch out my change interval the CVT started not shifting right. It would go into a higher gear ratio too soon and not downshift and other things. Fortunately the oil change out corrected the problems. Here in DC, MINI of Annapolis wants $450 for this servicing; ouch for something that was not supposed to be needed ever! Thanks for the crap tranny BMW/MINI. Oh, and for added spending enjoyment I have mushroomed front strut towers and cracked strut rod supports. There goes another $1200 or so for that repair.
