United-Kingdom Mini Cooper S Works 2006 Idle

Hi,

I took ownership of a Cooper S Works last february and have had non stop problems with the car! It has been in and out of various garages for over a year now and it is driving me nuts! The problem I have is that when the car is idle...ie in a traffic jam....the car shakes as if it is trying to stall. Unfortunately the problem is intermitent and as usual will not perform when it is in the garage as they do not take it out for very long! Various parts have been changed in the car to help resolve the problem which has cost me a fortune. I have had a new clutch, new wiring somewhere and a new vacuum seal on the supercharger. Nothing has fixed the problem. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be happening? The oil levels are fine and I always use high octane petrol.

Please please help!

Sounds like the idle control valve....Or dirty black stuff in the throttle body....

if the engine is spluttering, then give the throttle a blip and see if it settles down.

If the car is shaking as the engine splutters, I'd be looking at the engine mounts too.
