Gearbox noise

I have just replaced the clutch on my 05 Cooper S and now have another issue to face. My gearbox makes a grinding, whining noise when accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear.
Does anyone know of a noise reduction additive that could be used? Also, if you know what this noise could be that would also be helpful
