United-Kingdom My cooper s keeps cutting out on motorway

HELP.

I started having a few problems with my 05 cooper S a month ago, i felt the power was lost. One day i pulled out on the slip road approaching the motorway and boom the engine went off and EML came up, then on the error message remained.

I took it to a mini specialist at westerly and they did the diagnostics and it came up with 2 errors. Camshaft sensor and fuel valve shutter? I had the valve done.. and then a week later got the camshaft sensor. (additionally had all the brakes done as they were a little untidy whoops ;> )

Although i was convinced mini were over pricing me i took it to a seperate Garage whos rep was very good and they were extremely helpful. This is where i had the camshaft sensor done. I went to pick it up and the guy said he had the same problems i have when he test drove it...

When the car gets to approx 3000revs the engine cuts out.. this is usually 5th and 6th gear & almost always going up a hill. Obviously this means i cant drive it anywhere because i live up too many hills and the other night.. rush hour i was heading up a steeper part of the m5 and the engine cut.. me being in the fast lane..narrowly missed by about 10 cars as i restarted it promptly.

They said i new error message came up.. something to do with air conversion? basically they had it stationed and put the accelerator down.. and after about 10secs it Hissed...excuse my poor knowledge... but sounded like hyrolics on a chavved up car or a bus lowering down..it was really loud and splattered. I had never heard the noise before.. and my confidence isnt too great right now considering about 5 smurfs stood and scratched their heads hoping the internet would help them out....

any1 have any idea what im talking about? I dont want to pay anything out now as i believe i took it there for this reason of it cutting out..spent a lot of money ...and they didnt even fix it. I want to go tomorrow with some kinda knowledge? perhaps i can help them or do it myself... useless sods...

My personal opinion is you should pay the money for a proper dealer to look at it

Have you taken it back to the dealer since the second round of issues?

hi michelle did you get a solution to your problem, as I am experiencing exactly the same fault? I have put it into the BMW garage, they put it on the diagnostic machine and have said there is nothing wrong with it. Too scared to drive it on the motorway or anywhere come to that as could cause bad accident for all involved.
