Polybushes and the gearbox - MINI Cooper Forum

The gearbox in my 2002 mini cooper is being changed for the 3rd time. The garage im getting it done now is saying he won't warrenty it because my car has polybushes. He said becaue the engine can't move, its sending all the transmissions through the gearbox causing it to blow. Is there any chance what so ever that polybuses could have a slightest chance of making my gearbox brake for the 3rd time!! And bareing in mind the car is never ever driven hard, never been on a track and i have driven no more then 2000 miles with this new gearbox, with me just pottering around the area to work and back?!?!

I doubt if the polybushes would cause a failure after 2000 miles!. The engine OEM mounts have voids to keep vibrations out of the cabin and not to preserve the life of the engine/gearbox -thats the job of the springs in the clutch friction plate . When you use any real power the engine mounts will lock solid against their walls anyway.

My box failed at 70k and thats without polybushes, others have had them go at 30k and lower ..

You're probably just very unlucky.
