Question Door lock Mystery

Hi all,

I have a 2005 RHD Mini Cooper, bought it used with 40K on the clock. i'm trying to determine whether this is a mechanical fault or not. So before getting the lock actuator replaced, i would be grateful for any opinions and advice .

1) When i lock via the remote, all locks as expected, LOCKED.
2) When i unlock via the remote, only the driver side (Right), UNLOCK.
3) When the car is in motion, the doors auto-lock, as expected.
4) After the drive and parked, when ignition is switched off, all the locks UNLOCK automatically... exit vehicle and lock via remote. All OK.

But when i try to unlock from the remote again... only the driver side door unlocks...passenger side (left) remains LOCKED , but the sound of the actuator is present. ?? Please HELP?

Hi I've got a 2004 model with exactly the same operation. Items 1, 3 & 4 i believe is correct function.
BUT item 2, is the same fault as I have got. We've only had the car 4 - 6 weeks & it always unlocked both doors at the same time. It only happened when my wife tried to open the passenger door at the same time as I unlocked the doors via the remote.
Is there a way to reset the lock?
If I try the unlock knob on the dash, the door still does not unlock. I have to open the door from the inside all the time.
I don't believe its a part fault but I may be wrong
I've searched this site & read several posts on similar problems but the operation mentioned by "Azero" is exactly the same as mine. Any help/reset procedure would be helpful.

Thanks.

From what I have read its likely to be the lock actuator. Typically this can be intermittent. Currently experiencing this on the drivers door myself (well the missus is), first point of call will be to strip the door down and lube that actuator up, I read the smallest amount of resisance will cause the actuator problems.

My 03 S model is doing this. Passenger side does not unlock at all. Always has to be opened for inside. Will have a try at what has been suggested so far (or rather the boyfriend will for me) but any more ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

On my 2002 MCS the unlock button has to be pressed a second time to unlock the passenger door and boot.
