Weird Revving

Hi guys,

I have a 54 plate cooper s and as i stopped the other day, the revvs seemed to dip below their usual level. They normally stay at one level and i have no problems but this time it stopped and the car seemed to shudder?

I just wondered if this had happened to anyone else or if anyone knows the cause?

For the record, the hand brake was on and i was not in gear.

Thanks in advance for any help
