AC Compressor Swap-Out

I successfully changed the compressor on a 03 Mini. It had no leaks just a bad pump. You have to get a set of gauges with the quick couple rs, and a vacuum pump to do this job. you can get the tools from harbor freight tools, but you need a big compressor for the vacuum pump. The hardest part was taking the belt off first. You will have to make a 1/2 drive yourself to get the belt off, then take the bumper off and the condenser before you take the pump out. You must change the receiver, and all the o-rings too, I did not change the txv .. Before you put the pump in find out how much oil was in the old one so that you can replace with the same amount. After all is put back on set up the vacuum pump and create a vacuum which holds for the required time. Then recharge system. It still works after one year so I guess I did it ok
