I'd just pry the glovebox light out with a flat blade screwdriver and remove the festoon - you would have no light in your glovebox but saves the battery drain until the glovebox can be fixed.

Hi mate

Does your glove box shut but doesn't stay clipped? I had trouble with mine when I shut it everytime I pulled away it would open and everytime I.went to car in morning it was open thus battery flat. The clip to buy was about 50 quid from BMW so what I did got a spring but not to rigid about 10mm diameter placed behind handle and blue tacked it in. Sound like a bodge I know but you will never see it nor will nobody else because its hidden behind handle and its been fine now for three years and saved me 50 quid.

Hope this helps
Chad

If you file the latch to a sharper point and at a better angle, also file the receiver vertically a bit to remove the roundness of it.
Lay on the floor facing up to the sky, look behind the chrome button, pull out the two rubber stoppers.
Should stay closed.
