United-Kingdom Windscreen Washer Jets Very Weak

Mini Cooper Convertible 2005(55)

Hi Guys,

New to the Forum, previously was a member of the Rover 75 forum and managed to get a huge amount of help.

Anyway, I seem to be having 2 problems with my little Mini Cooper. 1st thing is the washer jets are ejecting fluid to the window but it is very weak and not enough to be cleaning dirt. There is no sound being omitted (should there be a motor whirr?).

The second thing is a slight squeeling noise coming from the engine bay at idle and when moving. I'm guessing this will be something to do with a fanbelt? It's not loud just a steady "screach screach screach" with the engine running.

Hopefully I can get this sorted without getting a mechanics fingers dirty and just my own.

Thanks again guys.

Washer motor should be making a noise, more details here:

Slight squeeling noise is probably the auxiliary belt, replace or check alignment if it is annoying (or due for replacement).

I think it may be the motor as there is no sound emitting from under the bonnet when it is engaged. I'll be able to look this weekend.

Just fixed a very similar sounding problem - if you had no flow then I'd suspect the motor with little flow it may be full of crud - we also have an 05 cabrio!
