Unhappy Halo sidelights draning battery daily!

Hi all,

My mini has halo or angel-eye sidelights fitted, they look great but they are causing me alot of problems this winter!

I know alot of people say that the residual glow is just because they use so little power but in addition to that, mine periodically flash a full glow even when the ignition is off, locked and alarmed! This is causing my battery to go dead almost daily.

I tried to find the fuse for the sidelights so at the very least I can pull this out when the car is not in use, this fuse is NOT fuse F10 or F010 in the engine compartment (perhaps it is different in an MCS?), does anybody know the correct fuse?

Or any other ideas for stopping these excitable lights from having a party while the car is trying to sleep?!

THANK YOU!

I have Halo sidelights fitted but never had any problems.
Maybe try asking Mike at NewMiniStuff who sells Halo's and is a helpful expert on Mini lighting problems.
He is also a sponsor on the TotalMini forum here (MikeytheMini):

Wish I had bought mine from him, can't remember where I did buy them from now.

Thanks I will ask!

If anybody else has an idea about that fuse it would be greatly appreciated.

You can solder a 1K resistor to LED lighting systems to stop this problem.

Quote:-
"There is sometimes a small amount of current running through the MINI electrical system that is not enough to light a regular bulb, but enough for an LED. You can Install a 1K ohm resistor in parallel with the LEDs (between the positive/negative wires). This provides an extra electrical path that, during low level power, prevents the LED from getting enough power to light up."
