Unhappy Mini Cooper 2002 - CVT - Won't Move :(

Hey all,

My 2002 Mini Cooper CVT won't move

The car starts and switches into gear, but no forward gear will make the car move. The car will move in reverse gear with no odd sounding noise.

The car was great the night before, stop and go traffic, nothign unusual. Parked it up that night, and the next

morning the symptoms occured.

If you do rev it to 2,500 rpm it does seem to creep forward.

The Mini had a transmission fluid change less than 10,000 miles ago from the local Mini.

We had a problem before where we would put it into drive and we had similar symptoms, but then we put it into park

and then back into drive it work. At the time we thought nothing of it.

We tried pushing back on the gear selector cable where it goes onto the gearbox but that had no effect.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Phil

Try resetting the system by disconnecting battery for half an hour........this sometimes works and costs nothing to try, also check battery voltage/output is correct, if it is the original 2002 BMW battery it is near the end of its useful life, even though it can start the engine it may be down on power for everything else including the CVT transmission control systems.
