Central Locking Problems

Hello,

I have a Mini Cooper 2002 which has developed a strange issue with the central locking.

When I lock the car with the key fob the locks all go down then come back up again (however the alarm arms itself). This also happens when I use the toggle switch inside the car. all locks go down then come back up immediately.

Last night I managed to get the car manually locked only to come out to an unlocked car this morning!

Has anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Maybe the button is stuck on contact inside the remote.
Use a manual key without remote locking if you have one.
Leave the remote key well away from the car.

I suspect many of these immobilisers become faulty as they near ten years.
We can't program our new key to unlock and sometimes the car won't start.
When we use our manual key, it's fine.

I've been quoted to rip out the factory immobilser and install a quality remote alarm system for the same price as a replacement key from a dealer.

You can still use the existing lock motors.

Cheers guys.

I fear that it might be that the BCU is just cabbaged! Ill try taking it out and seeing if there are any signs of corrosion and will also check the door latches.

For the time being I have taken out the fuse for the central locking meaning I can manually lock the car with the key without an alarm. Not ideal but at least it locks!
