DIY ? Drive shaft fault

Hi purchased a 2004 mini from a seat dealership in december within 2 weeks the driveshaft broke it was took back to seat and they refused to replace it with a official bmw however a non genuine patent part! Got the mini back just in time for christmas which i was happy about :-) however this weekend decided to take a drive down the m1 within 5 miles of joining the motorway the car began to violently vibrate and shake, it also pushed the drives side repeater out! When i pulled onto the hard shoulder we also identifed a burning smell and drive shaft moist! The car is currently fine to drive below 65 mph however over that the vibrations start, have since called seat and they are willing to investigate. Just wondering do you think this problem could of been caused by the non genuine drive shaft or could it be something else?

Hi

If it was the drivers side drive shaft it could be a few things there is a support that bolt on about half way along the shaft that could be loose. The following can apply to both shafts The wheel hub could be loose or the drive shaft hub nut could be loose or even loose wheel bolts It could even be a bad driveshaft
I would say get someone to check it over before you drive it again Incase at least check you wheel bolts
Hope this helps
