air bag warning light

i have a 52 plate cooper and i noticed last night that the air bag light is now staying on,

when starting the car it comes on there is a very quick blink but it then stays on

is there a simple test or fix i can try

Bear in mind that changes to the MOT mean you're likely to get an advisory for the next few months and (they're suggesting) after May your car will be failed for this fault.

Our 02 plate MCS did this after moving the passenger seat forward with the engine running. Fix was to clean, then reconnect the plug under the passenger seat and tape it up, then fork out £40 for the B200 reset tool to clear the code.
The light will not go out without having the diagnostic code cleared with either the proper tool at a garage or the B200 home tool.
Buying the tool is cheaper than paying to have the code cleared once at many dealers so it's a wise investment. That said ours never repeated after I'd secured the passenger seat sensor.
