Angry Intermittent Window Washer Problem

Hi Folks,

Having a small issue with my Window Washers which I was hoping someone could help me with.

Washers on the front sometimes don't work on the drivers side and then sometimes switch to only work on the passenger side and not the drivers! (very annoying)

Anyway I have taken a look at the tubes leading to the washers and found a valve that splits the flow between the two washers (with a wee red cap). It seems that this valve had popped open, I pushed it back down and both work again. Only problem is this only lasted about 2 days.

Does anyone know what this wee valve does? Or if it can be replaced or what? I have seen an old T shaped thing on ebay that could probably do the job but does anyone know how to fix or if there is a replacement part?

Thanks

Item 5 costs £1.70 at full retail price from the dealers so that's probably the easiest way to get it. The description of the part says "return valve" so it may be more than just a tee piece.

If the "popping open" is one of the tubes coming off the end of item 5, you might need some new tubing too, and retail is £8.21 per metre which seems incredibly expensive.

Thanks for the response on this and the Diagram! I am going to look to get a new return valve for this car then as it is the top of the valve that pops not the pipes.

Thanks

Hi Angib, Can you tell me where I can buy a return valve like the one in your diagram above on the internet?

I am having trouble finding it!
