DIY Radio reads 'DISABLED'

Hi folks, looking for some pointers if you can oblige.

I've just changed the steering wheel on my used 52 plate MC and by all accounts the surgery went very well. All appears to be back to normal however my radio now reads 'DISABLED'. After reading the threads on the site I understand this has happened to a lot of folks but normally relates to generic electrical faults and not a steering wheel swap.

Can anyone point me towards a solution? I reckon the battery was disconnected for about 30-40mins while I swapped out the wheel

Thanks in advance.

B

Do you have multi function steering wheel? If so the wheel connects to the iBus which is what tells the radio that all is OK. Could have a problem there.

Hi GBMINI, thanks for your reply.

The steering wheel is indeed the MFSW. The cruise control works fine but as you point out I can't operate the radio/CD.

As regards fixing, would I have to take it back to the dealer or is there a chance that your average independent auto electrician could solve it?

Cheers.

If cruise works, iBus at steering wheel might be ok and then the theory is wrong.
You want someone that knows iBus, how it works, where it connects, I don't know if independent has that knowledge.
