United-Kingdom Are all minis as crap as I think ?

There have been 3 minis in my houshold at one time thankfully down to only 1 now a 2004 cooper convertible which has suffered from the usual cable fault on the first stage of opening but now the whole frame has twisted and it looks like the only fix it to replace the whole assembly!!
So now basically the car is a financial write off
why does anyone like these over priced and over rated cars ?

I love them but from time to time get very p*ssed off about things falling off mine and people stealing small bits of it.

Since getting mine it really has put the "owner" into ownership!

Mine's been great. High mileage no problems whatsoever. It is diesel though.

I don't like the interior design, but it goes round corners like no car I've ever had, and its not even a bumpy ride! Puts a big smile on my face.

Like any popular car some of the owners have good experiences and some bad......but if you research carefully any car brand/model you wish to buy on the internet you will find some faults that seem very common......much of this is because apart from a minority of enthusiasts, most owners only visit specific car forums to ask or complain about their problems......there is much less incentive to register, log on and say how wonderful, troublefree or reliable your car has been out of the millions of owners worldwide!

However based on owner surveys it often seems the more boring brands of car seem to be the most reliable and cheap to run!

Exactly,
If a model / brand was as bad as a few make them out to be they simply wouldn't exist anymore,
Sqeaky wheels get the grease, but the majority of owners have few problems and are generally satisfied with their purchase.

I'm satisfied with mine.

The crap and very expensive service I'll have to pay for the weekend will be really worth it on the way home when I detour onto some country lanes push the sports button and let rip!

I bought an 08 MCS last year with 26,000 miles on the odo. I have driven another 36,000 miles in a year and so far so good. Both water pump were replaced under warranty. The battery was replaced under warranty. Other than the high pressure fuel pump, brakes and tires I can't complain. My complaint is the price of the parts. Keep up with the maintenance intervals and it runs like a Rolex.

has others have said, all cars have faults,do your research and they all come up with problems,if you keep upto date with servicing etc, hopefully not many problems, they are quite expensive on parts and service costs but i prefer to service mine myself has its out of warrenty anyway

Mine is over 10 years old now - had it from new.
It has had a new gear box and clutch along with air bag and some other odds and ends but no worse than any other car I've used (VW, Ford amongst others). It hurts as you hand over the dosh for a gear box, clutch, air bag you didnt want to break, but once you get over it its all good again and you are driving a stylish and fun car.

The original post asked if all minis are as crap as I think?
Well I suppose it's how you define crap.
If you're talking about a leaking kettle type crap or the bulb blowing the circuit breakers in your house or a heavy plastic shopping bag breaking just as you leave the super market or the kitchen sink getting blocked or the tv remote not selecting channel 1 or the tin opener breaking when you're about to open some beans or coming home to a cold house because the boiler fan has not kicked in or the garden fence has blown down in the night or the clock radio failed to come on or the fridge food is all warm because the compressor gas has leaked out or the screw just popped out of your glasses making them fall off? Then yes, they are crap. Or it could be called LIFE.
