Central Locking Problem

Hi Everyone.

I just bought a 2003 mini cooper.

The remote key does not work to open the doors by clicking unlock.. I have to put in the key manually and open the door....
I have changed the battery and can see the red light flash on the key board when i press the buttons so i know it is working.

Also, when inside the car, the /lock/unlock switch does not work also.
I can hear it trying to work... like a relay switch tick when i press the switch.... but nothing happens... the doors do not lock or unlock.

A side issue, which i am not sure whether it is related, is that the passenger window does not work... I have checked fuses for everything and no fuses are blown.

Can someone give me an idea of what my problem may be?
