Hi there all.
My fiancee has a r50 mini cooper convertible with a now non opening boot.
The left hand lock has never been 100% with the boot not sitting flush when closed unless you slam the boot.
After a trip away the boot opened fine, but as I closed it the hatch wasn't flush and so went to reopen it to slam it properly but it failed to open, press the switch above the rear plate and you can hear a click but the locks don't release.
We noticed the other week water in the bottom of the boot and replaced a worn looking seal but im assuming water has gotten in and its suffered from the corroded mirco switch I've read about on this very forum.
However... Tracing the wiring back towards where it comes out of the boot hatch and into the car I noticed a white fuse carrier type thing, which apon opening had what looked like a round glass fuse or resistor, this promptly fell to bits but made no difference to the clicking of the hatch switch, so im not sure if it was the main cause or failed due to another wiring fault or even what it was or where to get a replacement, can I just by pass it and change the mirco switch under the plate plinth and go from there?
Advice would be awesome.
Cheers
Alex
