| Rear Wiper Hey all,
My other half owns a 2004 Mini Cooper and the rear wiper gave in last week. The washer stopped working some rears ago and BMW said it was a blockage in the rubber piping and couldn’t supply the part to fix it as they were all faulty and they were working on a replacement and would be in touch, they didn’t get in touch…
Now the wiper has given up too... Anyway, so I stripped the wiper assembly down and had a look inside, I found everything had rusted and seized so cleaned it all and oiled it. I also found the rubber washer pipe wasn’t blocked as BMW had insisted 2 years earlier, it was in fact the hole through the wiper mounting arm, so I cleaned it out and now it works.
However, there is a plastic gear in the motor assembly that appears to have been chewed to bits by the metal teeth on the motor, and is now well beyond repair... I’m guessing you can’t get hold of the plastic gears? It’s the only bit that needs replacing and I’m reluctant to buy a whole new assembly for the sake of a plastic gear.
I have seen a few of you on here have had similar problems and come to numerous different conclusions, I was hoping someone may know where you can get one of the gears from as all of the car breakers in my city are without Mini’s… Failing that have any of you had to replace the rear wiper assembly for something other that the gear and still have the old one I can purchase from you?
Regards
