DSC light on permanently and wheel hub replacement

Hi everyone,

I have a '02 MCS. A few months ago I had my DSC light coming on intermittently. This has now progressed to being on constantly. No other lights are on ( run flat light comes on as it should when pressures differ).

I am having my passenger wheel bearing/hub changed tomorrow morning I know it's a bit late in the day to ask BUT could the light being on connect to the need for a new wheel bearing?

If there is no possibility of this (and i am being completing ridiculous in suggesting it ) my second question is has anyone had any experience of this and what needed to be done etc.

I have had 2 friends that work at completely different places. They both put it on a diagnostic thingy and neither could find anything :/

Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated thank you

Yip, dsc light comes own with a wheel bearing. You will probably have to replace the wheel speed sensor on the damaged hub to reset the light

Thank you that is seemingly good news.

Recently it seems everything I "get done" 2 more things break and I've been reading all sorts of horror stories :/

Chances are the speed sensor will be a pig!! I have not got another to replace for the job tomorrow, will it be ok to do the hub job and removing the speed sensor without replacing it if need be until I get one??

Thanks again for your help

Also whilst on the thought do I need codes etc to reset the light or will it just be automatic?

Many thanks

A

It resets automatically once the fault has gone. Disconnecting the speed sensor will not reset the DSC light though

On the last legs of the bearing replacement - gave the sensor a good clean ( it was filthy!!!) and made sure the blue connector was connected. Fingers crossed its all sorted :/

If you end up replacing the sensor, don't buy a spurious one... They can give you false error messages.
