Driver side mirror not folding

Think this maybe be a common problem but the drivers side mirror doesn't fold you can hear the motor whirring away. The car is under a warranty from the garage we bought it from luckily but wanted to see if it was simple fix so we wouldn't be carless while they sort it out

Thanks

Could be that the mirror has been hit or folded in manually and knocked it out of knuckle so to speak?
On my Freelander 2 you have to push the mirror in then pull it back out to re engage the mechanism, dont know if its the same on a MINI, expect so, but dont blame me if you break it, but hey as its not working anyway and its under warranty why not give it a go?

mine does it too, from searching the forums I can only conclude that a thread somewhere is stripped and the unit needs replacing. Haven't had a chance to strip it down to take a look

I reckon what causes them damage, not being hit, ok thats one, but them trying to operate when they are frozen especially after its rained a bit during the night?

mine was damaged when I bought it so no idea what caused it, but pretty much every case I've seen online has been the drivers side, so I recon it's more a case of being knocker or forced.

Either way the darn things seem unrepairable :-)
