Strange noise

Hi all

I was wondering if you good kind people can help me with what's is becoming an annoying problem with my mini.

Recently, after starting the engine, there is what can only be described as a spinning disc against metal noise coming from the engine. I've opened up the bonnet and as you look at the engine bay it's coming from the left hand side, low down (almost where the belts are).

Sometimes the noise stops after a few mins but it's getting to the point where it's happening and audible all the time now? Any ideas?

My poor car currently sounds like a futuristic electric gliding car.

My mini is a Mini Cooper S 2002

Do you have Air Con as it may be the clutch/pulley on the compressor, low down on left.......does switching A/C on or off make any difference to sound?

Hey thanks for reply - I don't have Air Con- it sounds like it's coming from the left hand side and it sounds like a whining noise.
