United-Kingdom Boiling out the header tank

Hi All

Just got my first cooper s 02 plate. Its fantastic to look at but has a bit of a problem.
Water boils out the header tank.

Was driving car round the block maybe 4 miles noticed the hearter was luke warm at best and cooled down when stoping at lights and such.
Tryed bleeding from top rad hose and lower thermostat 8mm one.
then boiled out the header. No fan came in and temp gauge stayed in the middle.
Un plugged both small(not sure what this does) and large plugs from fans look ok to me. Fuses look ok to.
Any ideas anyone? Fans,thermostat,matrix,head gasket??????
