HORN keeps going-off (After Replaced Battery) on 2005

Can anyone help?

I have a problem on my 2005 Mini Cooper-S, convertible.

History: (I left my mini at parents in their garage while I worked away, for about 5months, so the car was left sitting (big mistake) :- (

The battery went death so I replace with a (new) one, about 2 x nights ago and car started after and I left it running for 15mins

Then took it for a run without any problems. I then parked it up and locked it on the driveway.

But 10mins later the horn starting going off super load, and it would only stop for a few sec's if I hit the steering wheel. And then a 2 x sec’s later it would go-off again etc, etc.

So I’ve now had to disconnect the battery totally.

Someone told me that because I changed the battery, the car might need to be re-programmed again now? is this correct and if so how do I do it?

Or do I have to take it to BMW and be charged/ripped off?

Does anyone know if the about removing and replacing my battery, could be the reason for the horn problems?

Has anyone else had these’s problems?

Any suggestions please are very much welcome?

Regards

Patrick.
