Bought a Airbag reset tool on Ebay, but doesn't work, any thoughts?

Hi,

I have a 2003 MINI cooper R50, and recently its Airbag indicator came on while I was driving. I since bought a 10 in 1 Airbag reset tool on Ebay.

I followed the instruction that turned the key to "ON", then connected the cable, and selected MINI>airbag, it showed Reset OK. But the Airbag indicator just wouldn't go off after I turned off and turned the car on again, tried few time already.

Any help? What have I done wrong? Thanks.

Did it give a fault code for the srs problem?.....if the fault is not fixed and still present, warning light stays on again after performing its self checking when you switch on the ignition key.

Eh, send it back. Why people place so my faith in cheap tech from Ebay/China is beyond me.

I have a 2002 cooper and wanted that 10 in 1 tool as it was cheaper than the b200 that's always mentioned but the seller requested mini buyers email to check with him first, he confirmed to me it was not compatable with my car, instead he sold me a b800 BMW reset tool and that worked perfectly well. Cost 20 GBP delivered.

I had to read the code, it was the under seat airbag connector so opened and reconnected it and cleared the codes a few times till my airbag light was flashing on the Speedo, turned it off and its not come back. I think you have to clear each time it registered the error which might have been many times, the tools are not perfect but do seem to get there in the end.

edit perhaps it was not suitable as I specifically wanted to see the code, not sure.
if that is the case I would check the under seat connectors whilst the engine is off as these are the usual suspect's it seems, then try to clear the code a few times. I think there are many posts here explaining the connectors and best practice when dealing with the airbag system.

also email the seller for help, they should know the tool.

Do you remember what eBay seller you got it from? Or is any B800 reset tool as good as the next?
