Exhaust Rattle/Vibration at idle

New mini owner and new to the site so hello

I have a 54 plate mini cooper and the exhaust vibrates - can hear it rattle when i am idling after the car has reached it's correct temperature. Cat converter according to my documents was replaced in 2007. back box as far as i can see looks ok. when it's rattling I have looked underneath - the back box doesn't rattle itself - it's the pipe the tip connects too that vibrates. - tip is secure.

looking around online at pictures people have put of their cars who have same or similar issue - the back box looks like it's hanging slightly lower than it should - mine is the same it looks a little low.

surely if the brackets or hangers are loose the whole back box would wobble or vibrate also?

I am stuck and not sure what to do. Want my baby to be in tip top shape.

I am in work so not listened to audio on this video but link

youtube.com/watch?v=dSqe7pwIEyo - (wont allow me to post clickable)

shows the kind of vibration I am getting.

your help is much appreciated.

cheers.

Mine appears to rattle too when idle. If u touch the gas pedal slightly the noise goes. No idea what it is so this will answer my question too. Glad u posted a topic

Yep - tap gas slightly and it goes for a lil bit then returns

look at the exhaust rubber hangers, may be time to replace them

so far i have had no problem with mine, but my cms all4 is only 10 months old

i had a 1976 vw rabbit and i used to carry new spares with me after it was a couple years old

Yes it is fully secure. shown video to 3 family members and they all suspect baffle. It's going up on the ramp to have a proper look next week sometime so will know for sure then can get whatever I require to get it resolved

That isnt a standard Cooper exhaust system, so I would guess its the baffles broken up inside.

Wait till its cold and just hit it with the palm of your hand from underneath and see if you can here it rattling

Mine was the rear rubber hangers what tends to happen it vibrates through the rubber. The rubber mounts are made of steel which are coated in rubber and the wears through
