Side mirrors and temperature reading

Hi folks,

Sorry to drop in with a question right after registering but I already had a search and couldn't find an answer to my problem with a newly acquired 2003 Mini Cooper.

The side mirrors are not able to be adjusted using the toggle and switch EXCEPT for the left hand mirror being able to be adjusted to the left. I ruled out a fuse as I assume that this would mean a complete lack of control - not sure about the switch either as the right hand mirror doesn't adjust to the left (or anywhere in fact).

As a quick aside, the ambient temperature reading is constantly -40, is there a way to reset this or is a likely dodgy connection to the sensor?

Thanks in advance.

The outside temperature sensor is behind the bottom of the front bumper and sometimes if the bumper has been off for maintenance they forget to reconnect it up hence it reads minus 40.
As for the mirror adjusters might be the motors or dodgy wiring to the switches, you need a circuit tester to check out if there any supply to them first.
