Red Cooper Central locking agro

Hi there,

I've got a 52 plate Mini that I've owned for about 18mths. Just before Christmas my central locking suddenly starting sounding like it was struggling a little bit. I first noticed when pressing the button inside to unlock my passenger door, and it did it, but really slowly and sounded like an effort! When I got home, I was unable to use my fob to lock the car? I had to push the lock down on the passenger, and use the key on the driver door. When I press the button to unlock, the passenger door unlocks and the interior light comes on... But the drivers door doesn't open, when I press again it doesn't lock, that's it! This mean I am unable to lock my boot! Because of this I have to remove the small fuse which locks the boot for me, this is obviously a hassle each time so I simply leave it out now.. meaning I am bootless!!

It is a real pain, and it's getting to that point where I need to get it sorted. My mechanic is happy to strip it down and do some testing, but this would obviously take time!! Is anyone familiar with this?

PLEASE HELP

Nathan

Did both sides stop working at the same time, or did one side start to play up first and then followed by the other side as it could be the door actuator....there are two little motors inside the actuator which start to play up and therefore wont open / close the lock.

Had the same problem on my Daughters car, on the near side, would not open or close and on the drivers side it wont open but does close.

Fitted a second hand actuator this morning on the near side and that now works a treat just need to find one for the drivers side now
