Can Induction kits cause 'problems'?

Hi Guys,
I've read somewhere that fitting an induction kit to your
Mini Cooper (R50) can cause the crank seal to leak.
Is this true?
I heard that induction kits can cause increased crank pressure?
I ask this because i fitted a Pipercross Viper about 6 months ago
and i've just been told my crank seal is leaking and it's going to be
an expensive repair job.
Any ideas, or is it just a coincidence??
Cheers guy's.
