O2 sensor failure, emission light, emission gasses normal!

Hi Folks,

I'm having a problem with my 04 Mini Cooper ( model 2005 ).
The yellow emission light has shown up and glows constantly while driving. My mechanic checked the computer and it says O2 sensor failure. He checked everything on problems, but he says that everything is fine. He checked also the emission gasses and they are good ( no rich or poor fuel mixture ), the car runs perfect. My mechanic cleared the failure code, but it came back an hour later while driving. What should I do? The car has done 75.000 miles, stood still outside for a year and now it came with the light. My mechanic says that there might be mess in the fuel tank and the problem might solve itself.

Any advise would be helpful!
