Stuck oil canister

Hello, does anyone have any tips for freeing a stuck oil filter canister to get the filter out?

I changed the serpentine belt, oil, plugs etc but I could not get the canister to budge. I have the proper shallow 36mm socket and a long wrench but that thing is not moving!

It was still slightly warm when I gave it a go and I'm wondering if it is one of those things that needs to be overnight cold to unscrew?

Someone had this a few weeks back and they said their garage just could not undo it because the previous person had overtightened it putting it back the last time, but I never heard how they go on in the end?

The dealer did the last one so I can imagine some gorilla has done exactly this.

I thought I would start saving money and doing my own bits on the car. Can't believe it is so stuck on - it is only supposed to be torqued to 25nm!
