I had my wifes 03 cooper s 'sorted the other day' it had the abs light up due to a damaged wire, also had a one ball conversion on the exhaust.
Everything was great until friday night when the ASC light came on and would not switch off/reset.
The next morning when I tried to start the car I got in and noticed that the gps screen did not flash up the normal mini screen and that when I tried to turn the car over it was hesitant and not instant as it usually is.
The gps screen does come on but takes about 45 seconds (just sitting at black screen).
I took it back to the garage and they put it on their diagnostics machine (they tried 2 units and they both flashed up connection errors) eventually they managed to get it to connect but were unable to get any ASC based errors or diagnose further.
They have booked it in for an electrical specialist on thursday but I wonder if any of you can shed any light before then.
p.s the wife is getting mega grumpy with the car now and looking at swapping for an Audi A3
