Been on holiday for a week. Came back yesterday and the airbag warning lamp is on (again) - hasn't been on in months and obviously, the car hasn't even moved in the last week.
Plugged in my trusty B800 but no joy. Tried multiple times as well as the recommended plug in prior to turning on ignition method but still no luck.
Usually, the lamp flashes a few times before it eventually goes out then I unplug the tool. This time, it goes off for literally a second then it's back on.
Jiggled the connectors etc but no joy.
The fault table is 10 and the code is 03 (passenger side tensioner)
Any ideas why this is suddenly happening would be great.
If it helps, I noticed that the B800 starts to do a REALLY slow scan after about 5 attempts to clear the fault code. Never noticed this before and it stays like this for around 2 mins before I unplug it to try again.
had same issue on my R53, also the instrument cluster needles would flicker , tested the air bag with my scanner B800 found same codes and went after clearing them and then a month or so came back on with the same issues as you have described.
I found that my car original BMW battery 2 cells dead, changed battery with a Halfords heavy duty, reset air bag and has not come on since a year ago! could this have been my issue cannot say, but i had also the gauge needle flicker when starting, new battery sorted out this issue no flicker or airbag lights....
check wires under the seats, blue and yellow connector, check for any seat defect, my passenger leather seat had a split on the bolster and repaired with my first air bag problem.
Check out the other threads for air bag problems and good luck, hope you find some help with my issues
Thanks, Keith. Really appreciate that because as chance would have it, the cars getting more difficult to start lately, too. The dials have always rattled since i bought it and thought it was just a trait of the car so didn't worry about it. The airbag light now just seems to come on at random - mostly when not even moving so your suggestion of a poor battery stacks up well in my book - ive checked and re-checked all the connectors and they seem fine... Out if interest, what battery did you opt for at Halfords? Cant decide between the two they recommend for the car - ones about £80 the other is over £100.
Update : I replaced the battery about 2/3 wks ago, wanted to leave it for a few weeks to see if the light came back on. Glad to report, all fine! No lights, no needle shakes on start so smiles all round from me. Thanks for the suggestions, guys!
