Mini Cooper Headliner Removal & Refit.
I could not find much info on this so just went in.
Instruction & Pictures below. Time round 1hr out 1 hr in – Fiddly but lots of trim to remove & you see the trim all the time so DON'T damage it by rushing!
Philips screwdriver std size #2 from memory. (Short-ish even a stubby)
Big long flat screwdriver – use as pry bar.
Tiny (Real Tiny) flat screwdriver for digging out screw caps.
10mm & 13mm socket
1st remove all grab handles & sun visors
Clock, Just grab and pull carefully! pressure as if you are trying to pull it to the back of the car and down.
Rear view mirror, Twist 1/4 turn anti clockwise
See where this came from (Close to the screen) a round black plastic clip pull on the center & remove (Leave until last though)
Pop out the clear cover 2x screw under this to remove
Pull top half of the door rubbers off,
Remove rear seat backs.
10mm bolt in middle of the seat backs accessed from the boot.
Loosen a lot but don't remove.
easy leaver the top part of the bracket this will allow the the seat back to pop out.
The side attached to the body work is on a simple keyway close but not quite up right to release.
remove centre plastic from boot area. 3 clips (same as the one under the rear-view mirror)
3x screws ea side in boot area to remove rear compartment panels
(Good time to upgrade them 6x9 speakers in the back!)
Remove B pillar covers (The ones in the middle)
Single screw, cant miss it.
Loosen the A Pillar covers (Ones at the front) – (They have straps to keep them from flying around and smashing people in the face if the airbags blow)
This makes them a right cock to totally remove. – If you need to just pull like #^@
( there is a chance you will damage the clips.) so better to just loosen them. no trick just pull, from the top angle in and away from the windscreen
Remove C pillar covers ( Ones at the... You should know by now) (Again has the airbag straps) however they need to come completely off.
Remove top half of boot rubber.
Grab hold of the C pillar cover & just pull it off. strap on the top clips only. will pop quite easy then get stuck after about 25mm then pull hard, real hard I it feels like you will break it!. It may/should give
One of mine did the other needed mutilating with flat blade screwdriver as I did not want to bust the trim. (will straighten up.)
Again no trick & same sort of angle as the front ones!
Picture of the mangled clip & next ready to go back on
Before you go any further, How are you going to get this to the upholsterer?
If you don't have a van or Ute I would drive to the shop & do the next steps there!
One clip to hold liner in place Centre rear about 100mm in one clip to pop down + the one from the front
& go around the edges of the liner to make sure all is loose.
Twist & bend as little as possible but will come out through the Hatch.
As they will hold it all in place while you tend to the pillar covers & rubbers
