Last week i had an issue with steering power steering went tight but i did not know if it had occured
Tonight whilst driving it happened again so i stopped the car and started again i went 1/2 mile and my steering went really heavy i actually struggled to steer i got the car home which was difficult.
The AA came around and the steering is ok although i did point out to the AA guy there is a sucking noise he said that's normal but it is not i know the whinning noise it is not that.
I called mini who said they would have it in tomorrow BUT it depends if they will cover it or not, depends on service etc the car has done 56000 miles been serviced by Mini but last the major service was done elsewhere as i was away and wife booked it in so i booked it into Mini a week later and i have a check sheet to state this?
If you're lucky, and given teh recent bad press they got on Watchdog, you may get a goodwill gesture from Mini. It depends on how it behaves when the Mini service people are looking at it. They have helped some people out before but wont accept the pumps are a "known fault". Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Bmw have confirmed a failure although they did not believe at 1st cause when the AA recovered it was not failing...They have submitted to Mini UK and apparently this goes on service??
My car has 56000 on 04 was serviced Bmw up till last service which was done at Motest they calass themselves mini specialist (joke) they messed my car up so it went into Bmw straight after and footed the bill (motest did)it had a check sheet done at Bmw "Health Check" so i class this to be as good as full Bmw service, do you??
Im hoping for 100% payment from Mini UK on this and a bunch of flowers or something like Richard E Grant's daughter got because my frantic child that has Autism was beside himself when i could not steer ;-(
Mini UK aid 100% parts and labour although this did not include Steering Oil notr did it include Diagnostics although i told them the steering had failed i had to pay £82 i know a little bit in my opin ion i should not have paid anything...I had contacted local paper they called me today but i told them i was satisfied but now i am and i am not...
My previous car was a 13 year old Toyota MR2 with EHPS - I paid zero - as it never broke
In fact, as a member of many MR2 forums for over 9 years, I've not known anyone have to fix their EHPS pumps - and some of the cars are over 20 years old
Even Toyota don't always get everything right......
Toyota boss Akio Toyoda apologises for faults
Toyota's president has apologised to the US Congress and American Toyota owners for safety problems that led to deaths and worldwide recalls.
Akio Toyoda said he was "deeply sorry" for any incidents which had occurred as a result of failures with accelerators and brakes on several models.
Toyota has recalled about 8.5 million vehicles worldwide.
The reputation of Toyota has been severely damaged by a string of major problems across a range of vehicles.
The main issues have been faulty accelerator pedals, accelerator pedals getting stuck in floor mats, and a problem with braking systems on its hybrid models.
