Interior door reflector thingy

I've got a wee buzz inside my drivers door with my CD cranked up or going over bumps etc. If I press on the door it goes away so I got a torx bit and tightened up the bolts visible which improved things but I'd like to get to the bolt under the reflector.

I gently levered it off but there was a sort of blanking plug under it. This was done in the dark last night so couldn't easily see how to get that bit out.

Any ideas how easy it is to get that out without damage? The reflector piece snapped back on no problem.

Ta, KenL

The blanking plug underneath will pull out quite easily. It has three clips on it and if you gently prize it out, it should come out fairly easily.

I have the same buzz as you are talking about, but unfortunately, tightening the torx screw doesn't seem to make any difference (well not in my case. I think the buzz appears to be caused by clips in the door.

Thanks Coopergeezer.

I got them off with no damage and gave the bolts a tighten. You may be right though that it won't fix it as I think I heard it a little bit when driving for a mile or so after tightening them. I'm hopeful it's not so bad though.

No big problem though as it's such a small thing.

Cheers,
KenL

There are other threads that actually suggest UNtightening the bolts can stop the rattles and buzzes(obviously not loose just a quarter/half turn or so)

Thanks.

I tried loosening slightly and banging on the door panel with my fist. The buzz seemed to get worse than when tightened.

There are several threads that address this. Neither tightening or loosening worked for me and of course my dealer couldn't hear it. What did work was putting a little double sided tape on the clip under the doorpanel that holds it 1n place.

Tell me more dave. Where do you put it?

I'm not bothered enough by it to take the door panel right off a the moment. Think I'd put it into the dealer if that became required but it would be good to know a sure fix.

Ken.

Door panel has to come off Felt/gromet/insulation tape placed over/under pins to stop buzz.

Another fix was to tighten the allen bolts on the side mirrors ,the buzz may come from them

sorry I cant be of any more help

a possible source

I had a similar buzzing that was fixed at the dealer with some rubber washers. This has been covered in past threads so I won't re-hash.

Recently the buzzing returned. It would go away if I pushed on the reflector thingy. It turns out that the silver plastic has a slight gap between it and the door panel near the reflector. At the right rpms or with the right music it hits a frequency that it buzzes--it is really annoying. I fixed it by cutting down a piece of rubber weather stripping and jamming it in the gap. Now all I need is a less "ghetto" solution and I'll be happy.
