Drivers-side Xenon

Got a problem with my 2002 R53.

The drivers side Xenon stopped working suddenly.

Ive swapped the bulbs and ballasts from the passenger side and the fault remains.

Reading around here, it could be the ignitor in the lamp itself - also been told its the BC1 unit or whatever its called. Cant imagine its the latter as everything else electrical is fine. Also been told to check the wiring to see if the light is getting power to it... Is this possible as i thought you shouldn't try with that amount of voltage!

Any ideas what else to check?

Really cant afford to keep chucking money at this car so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi ya

I know you say your xenon light does not work but Does your high beam work ?

If not
Have you checked that the earths points are ok, also have you checked the fuses in the engine bay fuse box FL8 and FL12 I think.

The engine bay fuse boxes are a known problem area with chaffing wires underneath and the fuse box internals rot and short out.

If the fuses are ok you are going go need to start to check for voltage and start chasing wiring

It is possible it could be the BCU but do the easy cheep stuff first

Hope this helps

Thanks, Marque. Appreciate your help.

Slight update - it started working by itself last week haha!

I was just about to order a new lamp!
