| Weird problem - supercharger keeps blowing My 2002 Cooper S (CR/W) yesterday began acting strangely - when I stopped the car and turned off the engine the supercharger blower kept blowing, sounding like a vacuum cleaner as I got out of the car. It lasted 4 or 5 minutes and finally quit. It's done this about 4 times now. I've thought I might need to disconnect the battery to make it quit, but it's always stopped on its own. Each time it's been raining or very humid. Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas about what what might be going on? Thanks for any help. |

| We were on a Mini run the other week. four cars drove up the same road at the same speed. All stopped at the same time. Only one of them turned the fan on a couple of minutes after we stopped. We did the same thing a week later, and a differnt car had its fan turn on. BTW, they were both hot days. Who cares, I say |

| It's not unusual for cars' fans to run for a while after being turned off, but not for more than a minute or two, typically. On VWs they often turn themselves on after a few minutes of the car being turned off, run for a minute or so and then turn back off. Interesting, but not dangerous. If it's more than that, it may be a bad coolant temp sensor. '03 Cooper S, Red/White, Sport, cracked Rally Lights, HK Sound, John Cooper Works Cat-back! | The fan running has nothing to do with the ambient temp, per se...remember, the enging is still 180+ degrees F. Just because it's cold outside doesn't keep the radiator fan from running, especially if you're sitting still. |

| Agree. It s winter in the UK, but this week I discovered a new route to work, a much faster route and hey presto when I stop the fan comes on!!! I guess because I worked the engine harder!
